Kimberly A. Dutcher, is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation (Ta'neeszahnii) and grew up on the Navajo Reservation in Fort Defiance, Arizona. Kimberly is a graduate of Window Rock High School. Ms. Dutcher received her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, Master’s degree in Education from the George Washington University, and Juris Doctor from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Ms. Dutcher is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of the State of Arizona and in the Navajo Nation courts.
Ms. Dutcher joins Direct Relief from the Navajo Nation where she served the Nez-Lizer Administration as Deputy Attorney General. Prior to this, she worked for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community where she acted as Court Solicitor. Kimberly’s career includes Executive Director of the Association on American Indian Affairs, the nation’s oldest American Indian advocacy organization. Ms. Dutcher also served the Gila River Indian Community for ten years as Prosecutor, Senior Assistant General Counsel, and as Division Manager providing visionary leadership, direction and guidance to elected leadership as well as seven administrative departments. An accomplished writer and speaker, Ms. Dutcher has been called upon to prepare speeches and other executive level communications, including Inaugural and State of the Community addresses, and is often sought out as a conference speaker. Prior to becoming an attorney, Kimberly worked in Indian education, for an international training program for youth and for an institution of higher education.
Kimberly is married to Aaron Woods (Tótsohníí, Kinyaa’aanii) and mother to three daughters and a son. For leisure, Kimberly enjoys hiking, history and international travel.
