Laney Maria Lupe, is the 62nd Miss Indian Arizona to be crowned and will represent all 22 federally recognized tribes in Arizona. She is an enrolled member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe and of the Eagle Clan. Her parents are Fitzgerald and Eliza Lupe of Whiteriver, her paternal grandparents are Gertie Lupe and the late Roger Lupe, Sr. of Whiteriver, and her maternal grandparents are the late Roy and the late Sophie Brown of Canyon Day. Laney graduated with her associates from Central Arizona College and then obtained her Bachelor's from Park University-Parkville Missouri in Sports and Exercise Science, focusing on Exercise Physiology. She excelled academically graduating Co-Valedictorian of her high school class and cum lade from both Central Arizona College and Park University. Her decision to pursue a career in sports medicine stems from being a colligate athlete at Central Arizona College and then at Park University. She was also a 2A Girls State Basketball Champion in 2019. Laney decided to take a year off from her studies to pursue other goals. This included competing for Miss Indian Arizona, her love for sports inspired her platform “Promoting the Importance of Being Physically Active.” Currently, Laney is employed by the Blue Ridge Unified School District as a Physical Education teacher and Athletic Trainers Assistant. At the completion of her reign as Miss Indian Arizona, Laney plans to attend Pacific University in Oregon to pursue her Masters. In her downtime, Laney enjoys binge-watching on Netflix, relaxing with a good book, or playing recreational outdoor volleyball with family.
